1860s Civilian Society of Georgia
A family-oriented group of gentlemen, ladies
and children dedicated to vintage dance and to creating refined citizen impressions in the world of Civil War re-enacting
and living history. We attend and occasionally make presentations at Civil War battle re-enactments as well as doing
programs at various festivals, state parks, historic conferences and sites, and libraries. Topics of presentation include
etiquette, fashion, religion, women's roles, and period pass-times.
Atlantic Guard Soldiers' Aid Society
The Atlantic Guard Soldiers' Aid Society (AGSAS)
is dedicated to remembering the importance and sacrifices of civilians during the Civil War. As historical interpreters,
we want to honor them by striving for authenticity in what we wear, what we say, and what we do.
Barrington Living History Farm or Parks and Wildlife Site
Washington, Texas. Barrington Living History Farm was the home of Dr. Anson
Jones, the last president of the Republic of Texas. Today it is operated by Texas Parks and Wildlife and is worked by interpreters
dressed in period clothing the way it was done in the 1850's.
Bohemian Brigade
This website is dedicated and to honor the
Artist /Reporter Correspondents of the infamous Bohemian Brigade ( a band of reporters, artists who formed a social and working
group during the Civil War) who were eye witnesses to the American Civil War.
Chattahoochee Refugee Society
Their mission is to represent history by the highest standards, educating by giving an authentic representation of
women and their various roles in the 19th century. They focus on the yeoman class, interpreting the average woman as a productive
member of the farming communities of North Georgia and Middle Tennessee.
Chestnut Square Historic Village
McKinney, Texas. A collection of six historic homes, a replica of a
one-room school house, chapel and store on 2.5 acres just south of the downtown McKinney square. The grounds also
include a blacksmith shop, smoke house, and beautiful chapel and reception gardens. The buildings include period
artifacts showing how people lived in Collin County from 1854-1920.
Civil War Center of Texas
We
are a civilian group with no military alignment. The CWCT is incorporated in the state of Texas and is registered
as a 501c-3 non-profit Educational Organization. Our officers and volunteers manage all facets and duties required to successfully
support our educational programs, the dynamic expansion of our Civilian Living History organization and the exponential growth
of our re-enactments.
Dallas Heritage Village
Dallas, Texas. Dallas Heritage Village is a living history museum portraying life in North Texas from 1840-1910.
The museum is composed of 38 historic structures & boasts a working Civil War era farm,
a traditional Jewish household, elegant Victorian homes, a school, a church & commercial buildings.
Fort Lancaster State Historic Site
Spanning 82 acres in the Pecos River valley, Fort Lancaster State
Historic Site commemorates the vestiges of one of four posts established in 1855 to protect the military route between
San Antonio and El Paso.
Fort McKavett State Historic Site
At Fort McKavett State Historic Site, take in the spectacular Hill
Country vistas and experience early West Texas life through the real stories of the infantrymen, Buffalo Soldiers, women
and children who lived at what Gen. William T. Sherman once described as "the prettiest post in Texas."
Historical Citizens Association
An educational organization comprised of living historians dedicated to portraying authentic citizens of the past. Their
main area of focus is the American Civil War.
Historical Timekeepers
We are a local Wisconsin civilian re-enacting group that was formed in 2002, with the purpose of reaching out
to people whose purpose was to portray life at the home front during the Civil War. We have over 50 active members and continue
to grow!
Living History Society of Minnesota, Inc
The main focus for LHS activities centers on the final days of territorial
government, through Minnesota's early statehood (1858) to the end of the Civil War (1865).
Log Cabin Village
Fort Worth, Texas. The purpose of Log Cabin Village is to educate the
public through the collection, preservation and interpretation of artifacts, representative structures,
and other items of social and cultural significance to Texas’ pioneer era (1840-1890).
Mackinaw
River Valley Civil War Civilian This site is devoted to researching, creating, and demonstrating
accurate impressions of civilians from Central Illinois during the 19th century. All interested parties are welcome to learn from these
pages. Every attempt is made for historical accuracy while enjoying the recreations, making new friends, and teaching others
about the roles of civilians from Illinois in the 19th century. The purpose is to learn and grow with tolerance, guidance, and understanding.
Star of the West Society
An informal organization of women and men
who live in the Central Mississippi Valley, and who strive toward authenticity in civilian impressions of the mid-1850s through
1865. Their goals include setting up a central clearing house for research about the mid-nineteenth century "west,"
including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and other western states and territories. They want to help
men, women, and children attain higher standards in their civilian impressions, and to disseminate plans for living history
events, workshops, field trips, and educational experiences. They are dedicated to bringing alive the unique history of their
region.
Tarheel Civilians
A group of progressive reenactors in North Carolina that constantly strive to improve accuracy standards. They protray
civilians from all the social-ecomonic during the years 1857-1865.
